Frequently Asked Questions

As a professional lawn care service, our clients expect us to keep their grass mowed on schedule.

This requires us to make good judgement calls on when to delay a mow.

During months of the year when your lawn is actively growing, it is better for us to come out and mow the lawn wet than it is to skip the lawn and run the risk of it going multiple weeks without a cut.

There are times when ruts may be created on your lawn due to the lawn being wet when mowed. These ruts are almost always temporary and self fix as the lawn dries out.

If you ever feel like your lawn is too wet to be mowed on your scheduled day, please contact us right away and we will be happy to pause your service.

We do our best to make the best decision for our clients, but because of the subjectivity of this type of situation, it can be hard to get right every time for every client’s preferences.

In Maryland, the grass height should be between 2.5 and 3.5 inches.

According to The Department of Agriculture of The State of Maryland, low mowing is a major cause of lawn deterioration.

Mowing to the proper height can reduce weeds and diseases by 50% to 80% in tall fescue. Scalping the lawn is a major cause of a crabgrass infestation.

Because grass clippings can actually be beneficial for your lawn!

When you leave them on the grass after mowing (as long as they’re not too long or thick), they act as a natural fertilizer. They decompose, returning nutrients to the soil, which can help your lawn stay healthy and green.

It is advisable to remove leaves and debris from your newly seeded yard to promote healthy growth. Excessive debris can hinder sunlight and moisture from reaching the seeds, potentially affecting germination and overall lawn health.

However, if you choose not to clean up, the debris may create a barrier, impeding the growth of the newly seeded area. Regular cleaning can help facilitate optimal conditions for your lawn’s growth and ensure the best possible results.

Our service offerings are designed to ensure the consistent upkeep and health of your lawn.

Monthly or on-call services may not provide the necessary regular maintenance needed to sustain the overall well-being and appearance of your lawn.

Regular cutting intervals help maintain optimal grass length for healthy growth and curb appeal. However, we are open to discussing customized service schedules to better accommodate your specific needs.

Please feel free to reach out to us for further discussion and personalized solutions.

The service reinstatement fee of $25.00 helps cover administrative costs associated with processing and reinstating your account. The potential additional charge for overgrown grass is due to the increased time and effort required to bring your lawn back to its desired condition, which may result from the lapse in service.

We want to ensure that our team can provide the same level of quality and maintain consistency across all our clients properties. This fee is designed to compensate for the extra work involved.

Mowing your lawn weekly, as opposed to bi-weekly, is recommended for a few reasons. Weekly mowing helps to:

  • Maintain a Neat Appearance: Regular mowing keeps your lawn looking consistently tidy and well-maintained, which can enhance your property’s curb appeal.
  • Grass Health: Frequent mowing encourages grass to grow thick and healthy. It prevents the shock of removing too much length at once, which can stress the grass.
  • Weed Control: Weekly mowing can help prevent weeds from going to seed and spreading, as they’re cut down before they can mature.

You can definitely apply an organic or chemical weed killer to your newly seeded yard, but it’s important to be cautious and follow a few guidelines.

For organic options, make sure they are safe for newly seeded areas, as some organic products can still harm young grass. Read the label and look for products that specify they are safe for newly seeded lawns. Additionally, consider spot-treating the weeds rather than applying a blanket treatment to protect your new grass.

If you opt for a chemical weed killer, it’s crucial to choose one that is labeled as safe for use on newly seeded lawns. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully and consider spot-treating the weeds to minimize any potential harm to your new grass.

Sometimes postal service delays can affect the timing of deposits. We will notify you if your paycheck doesn’t arrive until the due date.

Mowing over newly planted flowers can happen. It typically happens because the flowers are not clearly marked or protected. To prevent this in the future, consider using small stakes or garden markers to indicate the location of your flowers, or create designated flowerbeds to keep them safe from the mower.

Lawn patterns are changed periodically to promote the health and longevity of your grass. Repeatedly cutting in the same pattern can lead to soil compaction and uneven wear on the grass blades.

By varying the mowing pattern, we ensure more even growth, reduced compaction, and a healthier, more vibrant lawn over time.
